Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce, an autonomous institution governed by public law, carries out in the provincial territorial circumscription, functions of general interest to the business system by promoting and taking care of the development in local economies.An open institution, in close contact with the economic activities of the territory,it interprets the voices and the values by giving impetus to their development through the provision of real services. Networked with the entire chamber system in Italy and abroad; integrated with other entities and national institutions; supported by the collaboration of the business associations, the Chamber represents for companies a gateway to the public administration, the confluence between business and state. The Chamber operates facilities and infrastructure at local, regional and national levels; participates in organizations and consortia; it constitutes special agencies for the implementation of specific interventions.

The two principal functions of the Chamber of Commerce are:

• Administrative functions;
• the promotion of and support to businesses.

The first is the historical core of the Chamber’s activities: the registration and certification of enterprises; the management of registers, roles, lists; the release of documents, certificates, surveys, permits, licenses for particular activities in Italy and abroad.

The second function, instead, aims at providing intervention assistance, economic information, professional training, market studies and research; increasingly extensive services articulated to adapt the local production dimension to the new European economic scenarios. Through special agencies, the Chamber is also able to offer specialized support and assistance to businesses.

The Chamber of Commerce likewise performs functions of Market Regulation, among which are of prominence are the management of conciliation and arbitration services and administrative monitoring of contracts. The recent reforms have expanded the Chamber’s expertise in the field of Consumer Protection and Public Faith through the transfer to the Chambers of Commerce the competences of UU.PP.ICA, peripheral bodies of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts, and Provincial Offices of Metric Weights and Measures Regulation, abolished by the legislature.
